High Cloud Snapple Half Marathon

First Half Marathon of 2011 on my race schedule~Cloud Snapple Half Marathon !

High Cloud’s first big event of the year was the High Cloud Snapple Half Marathon on Saturday, Jan. 29 in Carderock, Md. What a run!! All I can say is if this race was on the normal gravel trail piece O’ cake but since the week before the event we got a blast from Mother Nature of snow and ice and then more snow again. Bottom line is the trail was not gravel it was packed snow with glazed over ice.

I didn’t score me a PR given I spent 2 hours PLUS running on the snow and ice covered trail but I did accomplish a new PR and that was to make it injury free, broken bone free and feeling good after the 13.1 mile trek in the snow. It could have also been the fact we did look super cute in our Team Sparkle skirts and knee socks of course. Nothing makes you feel better then looking down and seeing the sparkles and all the people yelling look at your cute skirts or best outfit by far! I really feel like I keep my chin up higher and smile more. This is why I really believe that I got the true Snow/Ice PR it is all about the skirt. Thanks Team Sparkle!

Mile marker 7 and still doing good!

Home stretch feeling like my shins are on fire!

Who is High Cloud~Welcome to the High Cloud Foundation. Our mission is to help alleviate world poverty for the vulnerable among us - children and displaced mothers who are victims of violence throughout the world. Afer running this event I figured I might as well do a little research on what exactly they do and who they are. Well in my eyes they are Angels helping the hungry and helping the world. One person at time and one village or country at a time. You can visit them here if you would like. http://www.highcloud.org/

So I am off to do race number 2 in 2011 and state number 5 in New Orleans.

Talk to you soon.
